The Paisley Pirates came agonisingly close to toppling one of the league’s top sides on Saturday night, but it wasn’t to be as the Dundee Rockets edged us out 5-4 in overtime.
After a slow start that saw us chasing the game, the lads regrouped and came out flying in the second period. A flurry of goals from Gary Parker, Fraser Kerr (2), and Jay Herd saw us take control and surge ahead on the scoreboard.
But as expected, the Rockets didn’t roll over. They came out firing in the third period, clawing their way back into the game and eventually pulling level. Despite end-to-end chances and a roaring crowd, neither team could find the winner in regulation time.
Overtime saw both sides dig deep, but it was Dundee who found that crucial goal and sealed the win. A frustrating finish, but credit to the lads for the relentless fight across all three periods. Special mention goes to Daniel, who put in a tremendous shift between the pipes—his saves kept us in it and gave us every chance of taking the win.
Our Man of the Match was Chris Turley, who put in a commanding performance and showed determination from the first puck drop to the final whistle.
Despite the result, we leave with a point and plenty to build on as we enter the final weekend of the Play-Off Final qualifiers with a huge double-header against Aberdeen Lynx on the horizon.
Thanks to all the fans who made the journey to Dundee—we heard you loud and clear.
Let’s go Pirates!
