Paisley Pirates signed off their 2025/26 league campaign with a battling 1-0 victory over Edinburgh Capitals in a hard-fought contest at Murrayfield.
Although the fixture was officially listed as a home game for the Pirates, it was played in Edinburgh due to restricted ice time. That did little to soften the challenge, with the Capitals pushing hard throughout in what was always expected to be a tough test.
The only goal of the night came from Marty Simpson, whose strike proved enough to separate the sides and send the Pirates home with the win in their final league outing of the season.
At the other end, Daniel McGowan produced a superb performance between the pipes, turning away all 38 shots he faced to secure a shutout and deservedly take home Man of the Match honours.
Speaking after the game, McGowan said:
“It was a really tough game, we knew we’d have to battle hard to get a result and the team dug in and got a well deserved win.”
Everyone at the club is incredibly proud of Daniel and the effort he put in on the night, while the performance as a whole summed up the character of the team, with the boys grafting from start to finish and working for one another right to the final buzzer.
The club would also like to thank all of the supporters who made the journey to Murrayfield. Your backing is hugely appreciated, as always.
A final thank you also goes to Edinburgh Capitals for hosting the fixture, and we congratulate them on their league win as champions.
With the league campaign now complete, full focus turns to the play-offs.
