Pirates Take Four-Point Weekend as Kerr Makes Emotional Return

Paisley Pirates produced an impressive four-point weekend with back-to-back victories over North Ayrshire Wild and Solway Sharks, as the team continues to build momentum heading into the final stages of the season.

Strong Saturday Performance

The Pirates opened the weekend with an 8–3 victory over North Ayrshire Wild, delivering a confident team performance on the road.

Goals came from Marcus Murdoch (2), Craig Peacock (2), Marty Simpson, Bari McKenzie, Jamie Crawford, and Magnus Wrottesley, as the Pirates controlled the game and secured two valuable league points.

The night also marked a special moment for the team as Fraser Kerr returned to the lineup after several months out with a serious injury. Kerr had suffered compartment syndrome earlier in the season, an injury that required surgery and left uncertainty over whether he would be able to return before the end of the campaign.

In a fitting end to an emotional night, Kerr was named Man of the Match in his first game back.

Speaking after the game, Kerr reflected on his return to the ice.

“After a few months out with a compartment syndrome injury, it was great to finally get back on the ice with the boys. Back in November, I honestly didn’t expect to be in this position so soon. I felt comfortable out there this weekend, and I’m looking forward to contributing to the team in any way I can as we head into the final stretch of the season.”

Pirates Finish Braehead League Campaign in Style

The Pirates followed Saturday’s win with another dominant performance on Sunday evening, defeating Solway Sharks SNL 8–3 in their final home league fixture of the season at Braehead.

The scoring was shared across the lineup, with goals from Magnus Wrottesley, Chris Wilson, Calum Blair, Craig Peacock, Ryan Parkin (2), Aiden Wilson, and Marty Simpson.

Goaltender Callum Donaghy delivered a strong performance between the pipes, making several key saves during the game and earning Man of the Match honours.

Head Coach Ian Turley was pleased with the results across the weekend, highlighting the importance of securing four points as the team continues its late-season push.

“Happy with the overall result. At times we made things more difficult than they needed to be, but it’s good to get another win and complete a four-point weekend,” said Turley. “This was our last home league game and we’ve only lost one here in regulation all season. The guys have put a lot of time and effort in and have really bought into what we’re trying to do.”

Turley also emphasised that the team is now firmly focused on the next stage of the campaign.

“We’re building towards the playoffs now. We need to make sure we’re accountable for the full 60 minutes every game.”

Final League Fixture Ahead

The Pirates now turn their attention to their final league fixture of the season, which will see them face the Edinburgh Capitals.
