The Paisley Pirates hit the ice for their first pre-season test of the 2025/26 campaign, taking on the Kirkcaldy Kestrels in what proved to be a lively and competitive contest.
Despite a spirited effort, the Pirates fell 4–1 to the Fife side. While not the result the team had hoped for, the beauty of pre-season friendlies lies in the opportunity to reflect, learn, and make the necessary tweaks ahead of the season proper.
There were positives to take from the game, not least in the performance of Marcus Murdoch, who was named Pirates’ Man of the Match after an impressive showing. His energy and determination were a bright spark throughout the evening, scoring in the first 4 minutes of the game.
Head Coach Ian Turley and his staff will now turn their attention to the next challenge, as the Pirates travel to Murrayfield to face the Edinburgh Capitals in another pre-season encounter next Sunday.
These early fixtures provide valuable ice time, helping the squad sharpen up, test combinations, and build momentum before the league season begins.
The journey is only just beginning — and the Pirates are ready to keep pushing forward.
