The Paisley Pirates faced a weekend of mixed fortunes as they continued their early-season campaign — showing both resilience and dominance in two back-to-back fixtures against the Edinburgh Capitals and Kilmarnock Thunder.
Saturday: Tough Night in the Capital
The first of the weekend’s games saw the Pirates travel east to face the Edinburgh Capitals, where they fell 4–1 despite a spirited performance.
The Pirates created several strong scoring opportunities and played some excellent hockey throughout, but couldn’t find the finishing touch when it mattered most. The Capitals’ netminder stood tall between the pipes, frustrating the Paisley offence and keeping them at bay.
Chris Wilson found the back of the net for the Pirates, continuing his strong form this season, while Marty Simpson’s relentless work ethic and leadership earned him the Man of the Match award.

Sunday: Pirates Dominate at Braehead
Less than 24 hours later, the Pirates were back on home ice at Braehead Arena, determined to bounce back — and they did so in style, cruising to an 8–0 victory over the Kilmarnock Thunder.
The floodgates opened early as the Pirates found their rhythm, combining sharp passing, speed, and clinical finishing.
Goals came courtesy of Chris Wilson (2), Ryan Parkin, Craig Peacock (2), Ben Walker (2), and Marty Simpson, in what was a commanding performance from start to finish.
It was also a memorable night for both Daniel McGowan and Callum Donaghy, who shared goaltending duties and each recorded a shutout — a rare and impressive feat that highlights the team’s depth between the pipes.

The Man of the Match honours went to Zack Docherty, whose energy, consistency, and effort across both games stood out to teammates and fans alike.
Looking Ahead
The Pirates’ schedule doesn’t ease up, with another double-header weekend ahead — travelling to face Kilmarnock Thunder on Saturday before heading south to Whitley Bay on Sunday.
Momentum is building, confidence is growing, and this team is beginning to show the fight and flair that defines Paisley hockey.
See you on the road, Pirates fans — and as always, thank you for your continued support.
