Season 24/25 Comes to a Close: A Year of Grit, Growth and Undeniable Pirate Spirit

And just like that, the curtain falls on another season. The 2024/25 campaign has come to an end for the Paisley Pirates, and while the immediate feeling may be one of disappointment, what lies beneath is something far more meaningful: pride, progress, and the unwavering heart of a team that refused to back down.

This morning, the sting of coming up short is still there—we’re not going to deny that. When you fight as hard as this squad has fought, the end always feels too soon. But now, with a little space to breathe and reflect, it’s impossible to look back without feeling a deep sense of pride in everything we’ve achieved together.

At the start of this season, we were a team in transition. A blend of new faces and young talent, many of whom were stepping onto SNL ice for the first time—or with only limited experience under their belts. We knew from day one that this would be a challenge. We knew we’d be up against deep rosters, established sides, and formidable opponents. But what we didn’t know—at least not fully—was just how much heart this group would show.

Week after week, game after game, these lads have dug deep. They’ve trained, battled, learned, and grown—individually and as a team. They’ve been tested by the best, and by the season’s close, they were matching and sometimes outplaying them. The improvement we’ve seen, especially in our younger players, has been outstanding. Their confidence has soared, and their performances have been a joy to watch.

To our senior players—our ‘oldies’—your leadership has been nothing short of inspirational. You’ve guided, mentored, and supported the younger players every step of the way, and the result was a team that pulled together across every age, every shift, and every challenge.

While we may not be taking home a trophy or a title this year, what we have built is something every bit as valuable: belief, development, and a passion that only grows stronger. The performances we delivered in the latter half of the season were proof that the hard work is paying off—and that what we’re building here is worth celebrating.

To our players: hold your heads high. You’ve made us proud—every single one of you.

And to our fans—what can we say? Your support has been the heartbeat of this team. From the roars at Braehead Arena to the cheers in rinks across Scotland, your dedication has meant the world. You’ve travelled, shouted, backed us through thick and thin, and we feel every bit of it. We see your faces in the stands, hear your voices on the road, and we never take it for granted.

To our volunteers, coaches, supporters, and every person who took a moment to send us a good luck message or share a kind word—thank you. The Paisley Pirates are a community, and you are the foundation of it.

Let’s finish the season on a positive. If you’ve got photos, memories, or moments with the team from this season, we’d love for you to share them with us via our Facebook page. Help us celebrate what’s been a season of growth, grit, and unshakable Pirate pride.

Keep an eye out on the website, and our socials, during the off-season, as we'll be keeping you all up to date with all things Pirates as we prepare for the 25/26 season.

We’ll see you again soon. Until then—thank you. For everything.
